How does microdosing actually work and how does it influence our brain?

The last few years, microdosing has proven its effect on people’s behaviour and feelings. By influencing our brain the health phenomenon achieves promising benefits. But how does it manage this?

The effect of psychedelics on our brain.

Our brain acts as the central interface between our body and mind. Over the course of our lives, our brain develops its own way of perceiving and interacting with the world around us.

At least 90% of our behaviour is automated and shaped by the things we have been taught and by the influence of the people that are close to us. A lot depends on the country you are born in and the lifestyle you adopt. That is why we in Europe experience life in a different way than people in other parts of the world.

You probably wonder what that has to do with microdosing. Psychedelics can temporarily smooth out the existing, fixed paths in our brain. In that way, we experience a kind of a reset-effect in which our brain starts looking for new pathways.

It enables us to focus and to experience our feelings more consciously.

How microdosing helps us to focus

Research does not show conclusive results yet, but it is likely that a microdose of lsd or premium truffles has an impact on what is called our default mode network. This network of interacting brain regions is normally activated when we are not focused on the outside world. Consider, for example, daydreaming or thinking about the future.

Researchers assume that psychedelics partially suppress this activation which gives the other regions of our brain the possibility to become more active. In this way you will be able to keep attention on a task for longer, get in your ideal working zone, think in terms of new possibilities and enhance your cognitive performance.

How microdosing positively affects our feelings.

In the medical world, depressive feelings are linked to low serotonin levels. Serotonin receptors are found throughout our nervous system and regulate many aspects of life, including our mood. Those receptors are targeted when using a microdose. By using only a small amount of psychedelics and avoiding the "classic trip", we can disrupt negative thinking processes and reset the brain. By influencing your brain in different ways, microdosing can help you to reach deep thinking and regulate our emotions.
